Red Road provides services to non-profits of all kinds. The following areas are those in which we have particularly strong expertise:

Public health / health. We’ve both worked for independent health departments, and much of our consulting work has been in health promotion / health improvement. We’ve participated in the Assessment Protocol for Excellence in Public Health (APEX-PH) and are familiar with other public health planning models, including Mobilizing for Action through Planning & Partnerships (MAPP). Liz has a Master of Public Health degree in community health education and teaches in an M.P.H. program; Ann has an M.S. in nursing with a concentration in community health and has worked in a variety of health-care settings.

Programs for children & families. We’ve worked extensively with Head Start, Early Head Start and other child / family development programs. Much of Ann’s previous work was in maternal / child health and family programs. She taught maternal/child nursing, developed and implemented a child abuse prevention program; taught parenting to at-risk parents; was health care coordinator for an expectant and parenting youth program, and was an independent childbirth educator for 14 years.

HIV/AIDS. Liz managed the HIV program at the Allentown Health Bureau in the early 1990s; Ann managed the Clinical Services division, which included HIV. Liz was also a member of Pennsylvania’s first HIV Prevention Community Planning Committee; designed and served as Principal Investigator for a 6-county HIV prevention education needs assessment; reviewed HIV grants for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention; and designed and implemented a nationally recognized program that supported elementary school teachers in teaching about HIV. RRE’s work with HIV providers has included training, technical assistance, grant writing, program evaluation and facilitation of strategic planning.

Tobacco control. For approximately six years, RRE consulted to a regional tobacco control coalition. During that time, we developed tobacco prevention curricula for grades 4-6 and 7-8, a tobacco intervention program for high-risk students in grades 6-8, and a parent component for an adolescent cessation program; developed evaluation methodologies and tools for various tobacco-control initiatives; performed qualitative evaluation; researched funders; and wrote successful grants totaling $885,000.
